
We use social studies as subject matter where we can integrate reading, math and thinking skill application to content. We try to use reading of related fiction to support the understanding of the non-fictional subject matter. We do not believe that skill development benefits from neglect of geography, history, politics, economics, religion and cultures of the world. The curriculum generally starts with those things closest to home but extends beyond to the nation and the world as the knowledge base grows and special opportunities arise.
