ACADEMIC PROGRAM (As per Student/Family Handbook)

The school year at CRCCS is divided into four “core commonalities” or thematic units which will be integrated across all academic and special subjects. The units are:

• The Structures of Life
• Membership in Groups
• Our Amazing Planet
• Producers and Consumers

Students rotate through art, music, science lab, and Spanish every week. In addition, recess and and physical education are offered everyday. . For students that need the extra help, intensive, small group reading instruction is offered in the afternoons focusing on phonics, fluency, and/or comprehension.

Report cards are distributed every nine weeks at the completion of each thematic unit. (Please see the attached calendar for report card dates.)Core academic subjects (Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies) will be graded as follows:

90 – 100 = A

80 – 89 = B

70 – 79 = C

60 – 69 = D

Other subjects (Art, Music, Spanish, P.E., Science Lab) will be graded:

E = Exemplary

S = Satisfactory

N = Needs Improvement

U = Unsatisfactory
