Every year we expect to have teaching positions open. We have to replace "graduating teachers" and teachers who move on for other reasons, as well as find teachers for classes opened for the school expansion. We expect to be looking for an additional kindergarten, first grade, second grade and possibly a sixth grade teacher for the 2007-8 school year. We have generally received lots of inquires and applications, but this is not an average school and successful applicants have to have qualities not found together in most average teachers:
And the quality that holds everything together --A love of teaching little children.
If you are currently employed by the Putnam County School Board you have two options. 1)You can apply with the intention of taking a professional leave from the Putnam County School System and returning after earning your masters degree (after about 4 years), or 2)You could apply with the intention of severing your ties with the Putnam County School Board.
There are three advantages of the first option: a)You are guaranteed a position back in the school district when you have finished your studies. b)Your Florida State Retirement Plan continues to grow and you are covered under the PCSB Health Plan, c) Your years of service at the CRC-CS are credited when you return to the district in determining your wage steps. The one disadvantage could be the expectation that you will return to the school district rather than continue at the Charter School after your have earned your degree.
If you are not currently employed by the Putnam County School Board or you are employed but choose option #2, then you will have no guaranteed employment or obligation to return to the district for employment. Your health and retirement benefits are those defined by the CRCCS. The Master Degree Tuition benefit is the same.
If you are from outside the State of Florida, you will have two other considerations. The first is whether you have or are eligible for a Florida State Teaching License, and the second is the cost of your translocation. Unfortunately we have no resources to help defray this cost.
