Great Fieldtrip:  Our fourth and Fifth graders returned March 27th from their overnight field trip to the Florida Caverns and the State Capital. Before departure they had completed mock legislative sessions in class and sent two bills to Dr. Melosh, our school executive.  At the capital they participated in a mock Supreme Court session at the Supreme Court.  They all met with our State Representative, Joe Pickens and with the Speaker of the House who talked with them about the how bills are developed and become law.   The fifth graders even met the new governor, Charlie Crist, who seemed to be surprised and pleased to hear that students had come all the way from Palakta to see their government in action. He might have been even more pleased had he been told that they had come only using money they raised themselves plus some money from the PTO.

Voluntary Saturday School went from January into February.    CRC CS students seem  to be excited to be in school on Saturday.   Whether it is the specialness of teachers in blue jeans and students in play clothes, or the fun of reading writing and doing math in a new situation, attendance was extraordinary with 80% participation.   Of course, the parents also deserve credit for making the extra effort to get the children to school and the teachers for coming out on Saturday to do some extra teaching.
