Governance and Finance:

The school operation is managed by Principal Melosh. She reports to the CRC-CS board of trustees. The board establishes the general policies and has final say on hiring and firing of personnel. The same board membership currently also serves at the board of directors of the Children's Reading Center and is the responsible body that signed the Charter Contract with the PCSB.
Employees or their relatives are not eligible to serve on the boards of directors. Parent representatives serve 2 year terms. All other board members serve 4 year terms that may be extended. There is a general membership of supporters behind the CRC that meets yearly to approve board members and confirm the board officers. No financial compensation is given to board members.

A million dollar moment Working in a field for education
Confusion can come from two aspects of this governance:
First, it is important to understand that the boards of the CRC and CRC-CS are not related to the Putnam County School Board. Neither the CRC boards, nor the PCSB is responsible for the actions of their counterpart.
And second, the distinction between the CRC and the CRC-CS can become blurred when the issues are of mutual concern. The activities of the CRC may go beyond those of the Charter School and involve non-school teacher training, parental support in the community, family literacy, facility construction and creation of other projects that may or may not have impact on the Charter School. Separate accounts are maintained but resources are often shared.
